Mark Dion Catalog
- special project
I worked with the Fine Arts Gallery and The Department of Art at the U of A to design the catalog for the Mark Dion on show: Process and Inquiry. Dion's work is rich with texture and every element has a sense of order and purpose-- a place for everything and everything in its place which was the inspiration for the 3-part catalog. His tactile quality was also an inspiration. Each piece was hand assembled taking hours of the gallery attendant and art student's time. Assembling 1 book was 11 steps, for example. The exterior 2-pocket folder holds 2 accordion folded showcases of Dion's work shown at the U of A--one side the 2D work and the other 3D. Inside the folder, there is a screw-post bound show catalog featuring an acknowledgement, essay and artist interview all written by faculty.
